it's been a week. and things have been no less hectic. stress levels are reaching an all time high. i dont even rmb being this stressed for O'Levels. really cant wait for J2 to be over. now (as i told everyone around me) it feels like i'm wasting my time cramming my brain with piles and piles of knowledge i dont want to know and dont like to know. my brain feels like it's going to be snuffed out any moment, like a candle reaching the end of its wick. i really cant wait for this idiotic year to pass, when i can finally cease sorting my brain into different compartments for the different subjects (and having to sieve and pull out a different one each time), when i can finally devote my entire brain, heart and soul into sthg i truly adore.

and when i can, finally, be freed from the mundane activity of donning the school uniform every, single, day!

oh gosh. that would really be refreshing.

friday evening/night was senior farewell/exco handover/alumnite. was fantastic. except for the food. so that's it then. my last of guzheng. for this year at least.

mum and i were talking about this comment a parent made on the chinese papers. it said, since chinese is such a difficult subject to master, why not make it non-examinable?

what. a. fool.

since chinese is so difficult, why not make it non-examinable? oh Amaths is terribly brain-wrecking too, shall we cross it out of the exam list? and since we're on the subject, econs is bloody difficult to score and there're so many ppl failing, let's take it out too. oh did you hear the primary kids groaning about science? it's too tough! strike it out! make it only for enrichment! biology requires too much memory space, it should be taken out too.

SERIOUSLY. WHICHEVER PARENT THAT WAS, WAKE UP PLEASE!

firstly, there is nothing under the sun that is "easy" to learn. everything's bloody difficult. it's about your heart, your will. clearly, the parent was just trying to say that chinese isnt WORTH learning. cos all the other subjects are tough too, but apparently to him they seemed to be worth learning cos he didnt ask for the rest to be striked out. the issue isnt about whether it's difficult anymore, nah, it's about whether you think it's worth it. i think econs is worth it and no matter how bloody difficult it is i dont ask for it to be made non-examinable do i?

secondly, parents-who-still-dismiss-chinese PLEASE WAKE UP. it's the era of China and India now and they've got like this huge pool of talent who's ready to crush you anytime. i mean just look around on the streets, in school, anywhere, out of six ppl two are likely to be from china and they're bloody hardworking plus bloody smart too. and not to mention snatching our jobs away from right under our noses (oops sensitive topic). so anybody who thinks chinese isnt impt needs a good earful right now.

so many parents are ignoring the importance of chinese that it's lamentable and certainly worrying. i for one dont trumpet about my chinese but at least i aint ashamed to show it. cos i know it is an asset, esp when you're among so many who can barely utter a simple word.

i mean, just today, the tuition kid my mum was teaching at home dont even know simple adjectives and nouns like responsibility, bicycle! omg! and he's pri 4!! moe has already reduced the standard of the chinese syllabus so many times that it's an utter disgrace just to look at the primary textbooks. i feel completely disgusted. what have we come to??
